Scheduling FAQ's

❓ What is a schedule?

A schedule defines a task that needs to be completed on a recurring basis, based on a set calendar interval and/or hours of operation (Equipment hours).
Think of a schedule as a template that automatically generates tasks according to the set pattern and due criteria.

❓ Is a Schedule the same as a Task?

No.

  • A Schedule is the template — it defines when and how work should happen.

  • A Task is the action — a Task is automatically created from a Schedule and needs to be completed.
While a task is linked to the schedule that created it, it is a separate entity that can be edited independently, when completed the schedule is updated to reflect the new due criteria.

❓ What are the different Schedule types for?

  • Equipment Scheduling: Used for Planned Maintenance on a piece of Equipment.

  • Event Scheduling: Used for Planned Maintenance not related to a piece of Equipment.

  • Drill Scheduling: Used to Schedule Drills at the required intervals.

  • Inspection Scheduling: A specialized type of schedule that includes a checklist of items to review. It is designed for safety-related inspections, For example Testing bilge alarms or checking that all fire extinguishers are in the correct location and in good condition.
