Overview
YMS provides granular permission controls to manage what each crew member can access and modify within the application. Permissions are organized into two main categories: Admin Settings and Module Settings.

Admin Settings
Admin settings control access to system administration and user management features. These settings are typically restricted to supervisory or administrative staff.
Application Admin
What it does: Controls access to system-wide administration settings including application configuration and defaults.

Manage the List Utility, which defines the values available in drop down lists throughout the application.
User Admin
What it does: Controls who can create, modify, and manage user accounts and credentials.

Personal & Employment Details
What it does: Controls access to sensitive crew/guest information in the following sections of the Crew / Guest Detail form.

Head of Department
What it does: Designates the user as a department head, granting access to additional features & functionality.

Inter-Departmental Access
What it does: Controls whether a user can view and modify data from other departments beyond their own.

Read Only:

Hide all other Departments data from view.
Category Admin
What it does: Controls access to category management utilities, allowing users to create and modify categories.

Location Admin
What it does: Controls access to location management, allowing users to define and modify Decks, Rooms & Storage Locations Onboard.

SMS Admin & ISPS Admin
What it does: Controls access to specialized Documentation Libraries (SMS = Safety Management System, ISPS = International Ship and Port facility Security Code).

Module Settings
All module settings follow the same core behavior. Any variations are detailed separately below.

No Access = The module is hidden from the navigation bar. Any related records accessed from other areas of the application will open in read-only mode.

Read Only = All data within the module is visible, but cannot be edited.

Read Write = Users can create, edit, and delete data within the module
Variations
Certification

Vessel Certificates follow standard module permissions. Access is controlled by your Certification Module setting.

Crew Certificates requires Certification Access and also requires, Crew module access.

Passports require Certification Module Access and also require, Crew module access.
