Equipment - Offsetting & Inheriting Hours

For advanced hours monitoring, the Offset and Inherit functionality allow you to apply an offset when a meter reading differs from actual operating hours, and to streamline tracking you can set a piece of equipment to inherit its hours from another “parent“ equipment.

Offsetting Hours

In some cases, you may need to apply an hour offset to equipment, for example, If the Hours meter is replaced or if the Equipment is replaced but the meter is not. To apply an offset, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the desired Equipment.

2. Check the Monitor Hours checkbox and save changes.

3. Hover over the speed dial and select the Add Hours Offset button.

4. Review the information provided in the dialog and enter the number of hours to offset by and confirm the offset.

5. You will notice a Label in the detail form displaying the Offset value.

Once an Hours Offset has been applied, you should always enter the Meter Reading as it appears when prompted, the Actual Equipment Hours will be automatically calculated and applied based on the Offset that is configured.

Inheriting Hours

Some equipment does not have a dedicated Hours Meter and instead inherits its hours from another piece of Equipment. For example a Gearbox from a Main Engine. To configure Hour Inheritance follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to the desired Equipment.

2. Check the Monitor Hours checkbox and save changes.

3. Hover over the Speed dial and Select the “Inherit Hours Button“

4. Select the Equipment from which this Equipment should Inherit its hours from.

5. You will be prompted with a confirmation message, check the details and confirm.

6. You will notice that the Update Hours button has been replaced with a label displaying the Hour inheritance.

You do not need to enter hours manually for equipment that inherits its hours—these values update automatically whenever the parent equipment's hours are updated.
